Majlis Peperiksaan Malaysia (Malaysian Examinations Council) , The Malaysian Examination Council (MPM) which was established on 1 February 1980 under the Malaysian Examination Council Act [Act 225] is a statutory body operating under the auspices of the Ministry of Education Malaysia. The opening ceremony of the MPM was officiated by the then Minister of Education, YB Dato' Musa bin Hitam on 22 April 1980. Goals of the establishment of MPM The goal is to conduct certain exams and all other things that are necessary or incidental to the exams. Among the gazetted examinations are as follows: The Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM) was first implemented in 1982 to replace the Higher School Certificate (HSC) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan (STP) examinations conducted by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES). After the acquisition of both examinations by MPM, the names of the STP and HSC examinations were changed to the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examination.
